Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co recently received an order for five liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers from its German partner Hartmann Group.
These LPG carriers will feature double fuel systems, high-pressure tanks and a capacity of 5,000 cubic meters. The Nantong company will be the first ship builder in the world to build such carriers.
The ships will be no longer than 100 m, and the shape and internal structure will be comprehensively upgraded based on traditional LPG carriers. They will also boast lower fuel consumption and less pollution.
The Nantong company is a world-leading liquefied gas carrier producer. Its products include various types of LPG, LNG (liquefied natural gas) and LEG (liquefied ethane gas) carriers.
The company is currently working on two LNG supply vessels, one of which boasts a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters, the largest in the world.
Over the past years, it has built its German partner several high-quality ships, including Gas Chem Beluga, a 38,000-cubic-meter LEG carrier which was included in the Great Ships of 2017 by Maritime Reporter & Engineering News.
