The coastal city of Xiamen held an online job fair on April 25 to provide employment services for college graduates amid the COVID-19 epidemic.
The event, organized by the Xiamen government, was attended by 106 enterprises, more than half of which were State-owned and listed firms. They offered more than 3,000 jobs at the fair.
One of the fair's organizers said that the online job fair was meant to help alleviate difficulties faced by college graduates and enterprises during the COVID-19 epidemic and also lowered recruitment costs.
Promotional activities were also held at the fair to introduce graduates to Xiamen's development environment, industrial characteristics, and talent policies.
In addition, Xiamen has rolled out an array of policies for graduates working in the city and is offering incentives to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.
Authorities from the city's bureau of human resources and social security said that fresh graduates coming to Xiamen to work or start companies can apply for a Xiamenhukou(household registration status), and will receive a one-time living allowance of 20,000 yuan ($2,823.42) to 50,000 yuan. They can also apply for low-rent housing in Xiamen.
The city is currently striving to establish three service systems for promoting employment, entrepreneurship and college-enterprise cooperation to help university graduates.
