Shinan district in Qingdao, Shandong province is looking to restore its hotel industry as the epidemic subsides, and all starred hotels in the district have already resumed operations.

Given the impact of the outbreak of novel coronavirus, the district has put forward several supporting policies and local hotels are being encouraged to make innovative adjustments to enhance their competitiveness.

In response, Shangri-La Hotel Qingdao began offering take-away and delivery services on Feb 3, as online consumption is becoming increasingly popular.

Its online store offers a variety of dishes for delivery. The high-quality ingredients and strict health requirements make dishes at starred hotels attractive to many local residents.

Crowne Plaza Qingdao processes green vegetables and delivers semi-finished products to customers along with flavors hand-selected by chefs. Residents can then cook the dishes at home by watching videos posted on WeChat or Tik Tok, a mobile app focused on funny and entertaining short videos.

In addition, some hotels are even maintaining their facilities, training staff, and more during the outbreak in hopes of being prepared to offer better services to consumers in the near future.

"A series of measures related to room reservation have been put forward for the coming May Day holiday, and we are confident about business in the second half of the year," said the marketing director of Crowne Plaza Qingdao. "Our hotel will also provide some special offers to medics fighting on the frontlines against the virus."
