To better protect and pass onto future generations the rich historical and cultural heritage of China’s northernmost Heilongjiang province, the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development recently released its first list of historical and cultural blocks.
The municipal government in charge of the areas where the historical and cultural blocks are located must prepare, approve and implement a protection plan for the blocks according to law, and improve their protection rules and regulations.
Meanwhile, the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development will guide, supervise and inspect the related work.
Statistics from the Heilongjiang department shows that there are a total of 19 historical and cultural blocks on the name list and 13 out of the total are located in Harbin, capital city of Heilongjiang.
