April 22: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 21, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 30 new cases of confirmed infections (7 indigenous cases in Heilongjiang province and 23 imported cases), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all are imported cases), and no deaths. 28 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 784 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 4.
As of 24:00 on April 21, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,610 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 799 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 811 confirmed cases (including 41 in serious condition) and 30 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on April 21, the National Health Commission had received 82,788 reports of confirmed cases and 4,632 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 77,151 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,005 confirmed cases (including 78 in serious condition) and 35 suspected cases. So far, 727,589 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,796 are now under medical observation.
On April 21, Hubei province reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 5 patients (all in Wuhan) were released from hospital after being cured.
As of 24:00 on April 21, Hubei had reported 68,128 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,333 in Wuhan) and 4,512 deaths (including 3,869 in Wuhan). In all, 63,519 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 46,367 in Wuhan. There still remained 97 confirmed cases (all in Wuhan), with 15 in serious condition (all in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.
On April 21, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 42 new asymptomatic cases (including 7 imported cases). 42 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 15 imported cases) and 1 (indigenous case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on April 21, 991 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 172 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 21, 1,499 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,029 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 650 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (24 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 425 in Taiwan (6 had been dead and 217 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
