April 21: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 20, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 11 new cases of confirmed infections (4 imported cases and 7 indigenous cases, 6 in Heilongjiang province and 1 in Guangdong province), 3 new cases of suspected infections (1 indigenous case in Heilongjiang and 2 imported cases), and no deaths. 39 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 882 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on April 20, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,587 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 776 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 811 confirmed cases (including 44 in serious condition) and 32 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on April 20, the National Health Commission had received 82,758 reports of confirmed cases and 4,632 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 77,123 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,003 confirmed cases (including 82 in serious condition) and 37 suspected cases. So far, 726,797 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,791 are now under medical observation.
On April 20, Hubei province reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 3 patients (all in Wuhan) were released from hospital after being cured.
As of 24:00 on April 20, Hubei had reported 68,128 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,333 in Wuhan) and 4,512 deaths (including 3,869 in Wuhan). In all, 63,514 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 46,362 in Wuhan. There still remained 102 confirmed cases (all in Wuhan), with 19 in serious condition (all in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.
On April 20, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 37 new asymptomatic cases (including 2 imported cases). 32 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 6 imported cases) and 3 became confirmed cases (all are indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on April 20, 992 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 180 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 20, 1,492 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,025 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 630 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (22 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 422 in Taiwan (6 had been dead and 203 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
