April 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 18, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 16 new cases of confirmed infections (9 imported cases and 7 indigenous cases, 6 in Heilongjiang province and 1 in Guangdong province), 2 new cases of suspected infections (1 indigenous case in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 1 imported case), and no deaths. 33 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,073 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on April 18, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,575 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 728 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 847 confirmed cases (including 47 in serious condition) and 44 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on April 18, the National Health Commission had received 82,735 reports of confirmed cases and 4,632 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 77,062 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,041 confirmed cases (including 85 in serious condition) and 48 suspected cases. So far, 724,850 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,632 are now under medical observation.
On April 18, Hubei province reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 13 patients (all in Wuhan) were released from hospital after being cured.
As of 24:00 on April 18, Hubei had reported 68,128 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,333 in Wuhan) and 4,512 deaths (including 3,869 in Wuhan). In all, 63,507 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 46,355 in Wuhan. There still remained 109 confirmed cases (all in Wuhan), with 22 in serious condition (all in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.
On April 18, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 44 new asymptomatic cases (including 3 imported cases). 62 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 8 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on April 18, 999 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 186 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 18, 1,466 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,023 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 568 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (17 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 398 in Taiwan (6 had been dead and 178 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
