Liaoning promotes national major pilot platforms’ development

A provincial meeting was held in Dalian, capital of Liaoning province on April 15, with the aim of promoting the development of the China (Liaoning) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ), the Shenyang Dalian National Innovation Demonstration Zone, the Shenyang Reform Pilot Area and the Dalian Jinpu New Area.

Chen Qiufa, Liaoning's Party secretary, conducted the meeting. Tang Yijun, governor of Liaoning province and other senior officials studied reports on pilot projects for four major national platforms and summarized experience and practices in promoting reform and innovation.

Chen said that the entire province's regions and departments must continue to focus on the construction of major national platforms and promote reform and innovation to make new breakthroughs at this new starting point.

Liaoning will continue to step up goals for pilot FTZs development and carry out experimental tasks for innovation and reform, and constantly gain new experience and achievements to inject new impetus into the revitalization of FTZ development.

Replication and promotion should be strengthened to ensure that valuable experience and practice can be learned and used well, and that reform dividends can be turned into a driving force for development and practical benefits.

Tang Yijun said that to further accelerate innovation and development of major national platforms, three steps are required in the near future.

First, all regions and departments of the province must face up to existing problems and deepen their sense of responsibility for furthering reform and opening-up.

Second, all regions and departments must have the courage to explore new areas of reform and opening-up. Liaoning will do its best to focus on becoming a source of innovation, creating a new frontier for opening-up, and fostering new drivers of development.

Third, the government shall strengthen sense of responsibility and ensure development of the national major piloted platforms.
