Hechi among first batch for 5G commercialization in Guangxi

A press conference on 5G development in Hechi was held at the Hechi branch of China Mobile Group Guangxi Co on April 13, announcing that the city is among the first batch of cities in Guangxi in 2020 to conduct 5G commercialization.

The Hechi government has issued policy documents, such as action plans and guidelines, to create a good policy environment for 5G development, as well as to promote 5G network construction, application demonstration, and industrial development.

Since China Mobile Group Guangxi Co and the Hechi government signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on digital construction on June 17, 2019, the company has increased investment and developed 5G network planning, network construction, as well as project progression.

In 2019, a total of 87 million yuan ($12.35 million) has been invested in 5G construction. Hechi has built 195 5G base stations, covering the urban areas of Jinchengjiang district and Yizhou district, as well as key universities in the city. It has also set up two to three demonstration stations in each county.

At present, 5G services in Hechi can meet the application requirements of 109 scenarios in 14 industries, and can be used in smart manufacturing, smart government, digital campuses, smart homes, e-commerce, livelihood services, as well as other fields.

In the next three years, the Hechi branch of China Mobile Group Guangxi Co will continue to invest about 1.7 billion yuan in the construction of 5G communication infrastructure, as well as strive to achieve in-depth coverage of important office spaces, office buildings, and large shopping malls in the main urban area by the end of 2020.
