Since work has resumed as the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic eases, Southwest China's Guizhou province has been utilizing big data to analyze companies' labor needs and assisting workers from poverty stricken families return to work.

As a major labor export province, Guizhou had 2.52 million migrant workers that returned during the Spring Festival in 2020, 1.99 million of which returned from other provinces.

To lower the impact of the epidemic, Guizhou's counties organized surveys to help migrant workers return to their work or find jobs.

Guizhou's human resources and social security departments has maintained communications with coastal provinces that provide assistance to Guizhou's poverty alleviation efforts. By posting recruitment information via apps and text messages, Guizhou has been guiding migrant workers to find jobs online.

Wangmo county in Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture developed a WeChat mini program that helps migrant workers learn the information of positions under recruitment, employment demands, and subsidy policies.

On the first day that the mini program launched, over 200 migrant workers registered and signed up for positions. Through targeted measures, Wangmo county has exported 52,000 migrant workers.

In addition, Guizhou organizes chartered buses, trains, and airplanes to help migrant workers return to work. By April 7, Guizhou has transported 160,000 migrant workers to Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu provinces.

For migrant workers that prefer to work in nearby locations, Guizhou has been publishing the recruitment information of local industrial parks, companies, and poverty alleviation workshops. Policy consultations, career guidance, job introductions, and vocational training are provided to encourage migrant workers to prepare for obtaining employment.
