Medical experts from the First Hospital of Lanzhou University in Gansu province and James Cook University Hospital from the United Kingdom shared their experiences treating COVID-19 patients via a video conference on Tuesday.

David Chadwick, deputy director of the hospital in the UK, discussed the COVID-19 situation in his country, especially some issues concerning the fast spread of the disease and a high proportion of patients in serious or critical condition.

Zhao Da, vice president of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, shared China's experience dealing with the disease and how the hospital has responded in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak, including combined treating methods between Western and traditional Chinese medicines.

"We will keep up communication with our counterparts in foreign countries including the UK, to share our experience and make efforts in jointly combating the virus," Zhao said.

Experts from both sides also discussed other issues, including screening patients, quarantine measures, standards of confirming cases and discharging patients, treatment plans and the application of specific medicines and technology.
