The first Liaoya windmill festival opened at the Liaoya Junlyu research and training base in the Sujiatun district of Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province on April 8, according to local officials.
They said the event is part of the district's spring tourism program as well as a feature of Shenyang's spring tourism activities this year.
Hosted by the Shenyang culture, tourism, radio, and television bureau and Sujiatun district government, the windmill festival runs to June 8.
Officials said that 600,000 windmills are being used for the festival in four themes, namely love of the country, a reverence for nature, responsibility and dedications.
Tourists can see a windmill gallery and a national flag and a Party flag composed of windmills. They can get involved in activities including a parent-child windmill DIY game, colorful wall paintings and live CS (Counter-Strike) games, according to officials.
Due to current novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control measures, all areas at the base are being disinfected every day and body temperatures of visitors are measured.
