Qingdao to tap consumption potential

The eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province is stepping up efforts to create a favorable environment for consumption.

A 100-day consumption season event, starting on 23, will be launched to expand consumption in rural areas and spending in vehicle and household appliances, tourism, fitness, sightseeing, catering and cultural sectors.

The COVID-19 outbreak led to a drastic drop in consumption, especially in the tourism, catering, entertainment and offline retail sectors, while extended factory shutdowns caused major disruptions to supply.

In a bid to boost consumption in services, a large amount of discounts, allowances and special offers will be launched by enterprises and retail sectors, local authorities said.
