​Mask production in Jinan exceeds 10 million per day

The mask production capacity of Jinan, Shandong province has increased from one million units to over 10 million per day in just one month, thanks to the city's complete production chains.

With the demand for masks surging amid the novel coronavirus outbreak, some local manufacturing companies have begun developing and producing the equipment for raw materials needed for mask production.

Statistics showed that as of March 28, Jinan has four companies which can produce non-woven and fusible spraying cloth, which are essential for mask production. The daily output of the materials has reached 130 tons.

There are six companies which can produce mask machines, with a total monthly production capacity of more than 200 sets.

A total of six types of masks have been developed, including daily use masks, medical protective masks, N95 masks and children's masks.

Jinan Shengquan Group is actively developing melt-spraying material, a core raw material needed for mask production.

The group's mask production capacity is rapidly expanding; its daily output has reached 1.9 million.

Jinan First Machine Tool Company developed a fully-automated production line to complement its automatic packaging line.

The production line can quickly complete the entire production process, including packaging, without the need for any manual labor.

Currently, six companies are producing epidemic materials which have been exported to 10 countries and regions, including Italy, the United States, and Australia. The total value of exports has reached 25.43 million yuan ($3.58 million).
