April 6: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 5, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 39 new cases of confirmed infections (38 imported cases and 1 indigenous case in Guangdong province), 10 new cases of suspected infections (all are imported cases), and 1 death (in Hubei province). 114 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,151 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 30.
As of 24:00 on April 5, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 951 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 258 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 693 confirmed cases (including 22 in serious condition) and 88 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on April 5, the National Health Commission had received 81,708 reports of confirmed cases and 3,331 deaths (increased by 1 by Hubei after verification) in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 77,078 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,299 confirmed cases (including 265 in serious condition) and 88 suspected cases. So far, 713,988 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 16,154 are now under medical observation.
On April 5, Hubei reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and 1 death (in Wuhan). 69 patients (all in Wuhan) were released from hospital after being cured.
As of 24:00 on April 5, Hubei had reported 67,803 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,008 in Wuhan) and 3,212 deaths (2,571 in Wuhan and increased by 1 by Xiaogan after verification). In all, 64,014 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 46,863 in Wuhan. There still remained 577 confirmed cases (including 574 in Wuhan), with 234 in serious condition (including 231 in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.
On April 5, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 78 new asymptomatic cases (including 40 imported cases). 50 asymptomatic cases were freed from quarantine (including 4 imported cases) and 5 became confirmed cases (all are imported cases). As of 24:00 on April 5, 1,047 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 275 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 5, 1,297 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 890 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 206 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 44 in Macao (10 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 363 in Taiwan (5 had been dead and 54 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
