The 72km Haihe River meanders through the city and flows into the Bohai Sea. The Haihe River has long nurtured the people in Tianjin and has also cultivated the unique character of the city. After its comprehensive development, the river has functioned as an economic, cultural, and scenic asset.

On March 29, outstanding young artists from Tianjin Pingju Theater launched a live show of the classic plays of Pingju Opera: "Qin Xianglian", Madam White Snake and Du Shiniang.

Prior to the launch, Tianjin had introduced three online opera programs to satisfy fans of the traditional art, who had been confined to their homes during the spread of COVID-19.

As a city with an established opera tradition and a rich artistic heritage, immersing oneself in a colorful play with elegant costumes, startling makeup and graceful movements is an indispensable part of leisure and, more importantly, gives a long-lasting taste that makes you want more.

The classic operas are all adapted from well-known folk stories which represent the fine qualities and traditions of the Chinese people.

Public facilities and avenues in the port city such as Tianjin Museum, Tianjin Library, Tianjin Art Museum and Tianjin Natural Museum reopened to the public on March 26, after the outbreak of the novel coronavirus forced the museums to close for two months.

All of these museums have adopted measures such as visitor caps, advance real-time reservations online, selected open sections, and diverted visiting to curb the spread of the virus.

They do not accept tour groups and no guide services will be provided other than automated services.

Visitors must wear masks and have their body temperature checked before entering the museums.

Tianjin Ancient Culture Street Tourist Area reopens to public on March 26.

This tourist area retains antique features, and its main street has maintained its ancient architectural style from 600 years ago.

Covering 200,000 square meters, it is a tourism business zone integrating folk culture, tourism and business, shopping and leisure, food and accommodation.
