Special high-tech prefabricated rubber running tracks for the main stadium of the new Xi'an Olympic Sports Center were transported by the China-Europe Chang'an freight train from abroad and finally arrived at the construction site after customs clearance on March 30, according to local officials in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province.
This batch of tracks will be installed in April to ensure the completion of the Xi'an Olympic Sports Center, the main venue of the 14th National Games.
In late February, the rubber running tracks were transported from Italy to Germany by road and rail, before finally arriving in Xi'an.
The total journey was about 20 days, saving nearly one month of the regular transport time and ensuring that the project is completed on schedule.
The stadium of Xi'an Olympic Sports Center covers nearly 12,000 square meters. At present, the basic construction of the main stadium running tracks is near completion, according to Yi Gang, deputy general manager of the project.
The sports center includes a stadium that can accommodate 60,000 people, a gymnasium with 18,000 seats, as well as a swimming and diving hall with 4,000 seats. It is expected to be finished on June 30.
