Zhong Nanshan, a prominent Chinese respiratory disease expert, consulted online with US colleagues about COVID-19 on Friday.
Zhong laid out the clinical characteristics of COVID-19, like fever, cough and fatigue, with fatigue as the most common symptom based on data collected from 1,099 cases in China at the beginning of the outbreak. The incubation period on average is four days, and can very rarely last as long as 24 days.
Zhong warned asymptomatic patients are also infectious. He also gave predictions for cases that may turn into critical ones and become hard to be cured.
