Hohhot airport serves over 13 million passengers in 2019

Hohhot Baita International Airport served a total of 13.152 million passengers in 2019, a year-on-year growth of 8.2 percent, according to a report in the Hohhot Daily.

Over the past year, the number of flights to and from the airport increased by 5.7 percent to 111,000.

As of Dec 31, the airport was connected to 96 cities, an increase of 10 cities on the previous year. Of these, 86 were Chinese destinations and 10 were international cities and regions.

Officials said direct flights have been launched linking Hohhot with 80 cities, with 29 being capital cities.

To provide further convenience for travelers, the airport launched a passenger service platform earlier in December. Relying on internal information systems, the platform covers routine functions such as flight information inquiries.

Officials said it is expected to significantly improve passengers’ travel experiences, as well pave the way for the overall development of an intelligent operations service system for airports in the autonomous region.

They said the platform features displays of flight support processes, security waiting numbers and other key functions, to help reduce the risk of delay and save travel times.
