Following two months closure due to the novel coronavirus epidemic, Shenyang Forest Zoological Garden-- in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province -- reopened to visitors on March 26, according to local reports.

Garden officials said that all animal houses, tourist trails and gates were disinfected, to ensure the safety of visitors and animals.

Also, to avoid public gatherings, only outdoor areas are open to visitors. The giant panda, primates and hippo houses will not open.

Meanwhile on March 29, an online live streaming event will be held at the garden, allowing people to get to know about the current situation of the animals -- and also calling on them to protect wild animals, according to a worker at the garden.

During the live streaming event, giant pandas and red-crowned cranes will be featured, the worker added.
