Two cold chain vehicles departed from Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province on March 9, heading for Central China's Hubei province, according to local officials.
The vehicles loaded with 600,000 milliliters of red blood cell suspension, 20 therapeutic platelets and 2,100 ml of blood plasma from patients who recovered from the coronavirus pneumonia.
This is the third time in less than a month that Shaanxi donated blood to Hubei, officials said.
They said that since the outbreak, blood donations in Shaanxi province has also been under tremendous pressure and there were insufficient stocks of blood.
