The fifth medical team from Northwest China's Shaanxi province travelled to Wuhan in Central China's Hubei province on Feb 24, carrying out psychological assistance and medical treatment work connected to the novel coronavirus epidemic.
Made up of 32 psychologists from eight medical institutions across the province, it was Shaanxi’s first psychological assistance medical team sent.
Officials said the 32 members of the medical team are all experts, including two doctoral students and several chief physicians, according to Zhang Jie, leader of the medical team and secretary of the Party committee of Xi’an Mental Health Center.
After arriving in Wuhan, they will provide psychological assistance and intervention to front line medics and people participating in epidemic prevention and control. This will help them get rid of their anxieties and insomnia, allowing them to engage in epidemic prevention and control in a better state.
In addition, they will also provide psychological intervention and counseling about patients' fears and negative emotions.
