The groundbreaking ceremony for the Xi'an Economic and Technological Development Zone Hospital of Xi'an Children's Hospital took place on Feb 23, according to zone officials.
They said the new hospital will further balance the distribution of high-quality medical and health resources, meet the demand of people seeking medical treatment and promote a healthy Xi'an.
One of the key projects in Xi'an, the planned area of the project is over 13 hectares and officials said that when it is up and running it will have 2,000 beds and receive 8,000 outpatient and emergency visits a day.
The total investment will be 1.6 billion yuan ($228.08 million). The first phase of the facility will build outpatient and emergency buildings covering 72,000 square meters and inpatient buildings, with 1,000 beds covering 48,000 sq m.
Officials said it will be a tertiary first-class children's specialist hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, health care, prevention, and rehabilitation.
It is expected to be operational by the end of 2023.
