Residents in a residential building in Xi'an High-tech Industries Development Zone -- under isolation since Jan 31 -- were released safely on Feb 14 with the help and care of community workers, according to local officials.

During the two weeks of isolation, the residents got supplies brought in by the community workers -- such as bread, instant noodles, sauces and vegetables.

The workers also entered the residential building twice a day to conduct disinfections and collect garbage.

In addition to reminding everyone to take their temperature measurements every day and carefully record them, the community workers also helped residents transfer packages, buy medicine, buy natural gas, among other chores.

Local officials said that during the Lantern Festival, residents also able to eat a bowl of tangyuan, or glutinous rice balls, sent in by the community workers.
