The Eighth Hospital of Xi'an, a designated hospital for special treatment of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, has established traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment team to improve the cure rate, according to hospital officials.
Each ward is equipped with a TCM physician and officials said confirmed cases are being treated with integrated Chinese and Western medicine. Most patients can quickly improve their cough and fever symptoms.
For suspected patients, TCM treatment are also actively given to alleviate the patient's discomfort.
With WeChat, telephone and other forms to communicate with patients, the medics of the hospital are spreading the word on epidemic prevention and control, improving patients' adherence to treatment.
As of Feb 12, Xi'an had reported a total of 110 confirmed cases, in which 15 cases had been cured and discharged while 95 were still being treated in designated hospitals, including four in critical condition and two in severe condition.
