The first confirmed patient with the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) in Xi'an, capital of northwestern Shaanxi province, was cured of the disease and discharged from hospital on Feb 8, according to the Eighth Hospital of Xi'an.
Local officials said that cumulative number of cured cases in the city on that day had reached 10.
The 32-year-old woman had traveled in Hangzhou, in eastern Zhejiang province on Jan 12-14, during which she had a meeting with a fever patient from Wuhan city, the epicenter of the outbreak.
She returned to Xi'an on Jan 14 and developed fever with cough and sputum on Jan 16. Officials said she then went to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University on Jan 20 and was tranferred to the Eighth Hospital of Xi'an on Jan 21.
Officials said that on Feb 4 and Feb 7, the novel coronavirus pathogenic nucleic acid tests were found to be negative.
As of 10 am on Feb 10, a total of 98 cases of infections had been confirmed in the city. Expect for the 10 cured individuals, 83 of the confirmed patients were in a stable health condition, while three were in a critical condition and two in a severe condition.
