Shanghai will improve its fever clinics and add 182 new ones in the city's community health service centers in order to strengthen the screening of COVID-19 disease, according to the municipal health commission on Mar 22.
The city plans to expand the space of its existing 117 fever clinics and improve the facilities so as to allow more patients to remain in hospital under observation, said the commission during the city's daily briefing on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Employees at such clinics will receive further training, more equipment, medication and first-aid supplies as well as protective gears, said the commission.
The city will also optimize the service procedure management at the fever clinics and strengthen epidemiological examinations. Medical professionals from multiple departments will join hands to provide in-time treatment for patients in severe condition at these clinics.
At the same time, the city is adding another 182 fever clinics in its community health service centers, said the commission.
