March 23: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On March 22, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 39 new cases of confirmed infections, 47 new cases of suspected infections, and 9 deaths (all in Hubei province). 459 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 661 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 96.
As of 24:00 on March 22, the National Health Commission had received 81,093 reports of confirmed cases and 3,270 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 72,703 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 5,120 confirmed cases (including 1,749 in serious condition) and 136 suspected cases. So far, 688,993 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 10,701 are now under medical observation.
On March 22, Hubei reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and 9 deaths (all in Wuhan). 447 patients were released from hospital after being cured, including 434 in Wuhan.
As of 24:00 on March 22, Hubei had reported 67,800 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,005 in Wuhan) and 3,153 deaths (including 2,517 in Wuhan). In all, 59,879 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 42,788 in Wuhan. There still remained 4,768 confirmed cases (including 4,700 in Wuhan), with 1,714 in serious condition (including 1,699 in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.
On March 22, the Chinese mainland reported 39 new imported confirmed cases from overseas (10 in Beijing municipality, 10 in Shanghai municipality, 6 in Fujian province, 6 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Gansu province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Henan province, and 1 in Chongqing municipality). As of 24:00 on March 22, the Chinese mainland had reported 353 imported confirmed cases from overseas.
As of 24:00 on March 22, 507 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 317 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 100 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 21 in Macao (10 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 169 in Taiwan (2 had been dead and 28 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
