Northwestern Shaanxi province's first confirmed patient with the novel coronavirus, was pronounced cured of the disease and discharged from hospital on Feb 4, according to Tangdu Hospital of Air Force Medical University of the PLA.
The Xi'an-born man, took a high-speed rail to Wuhan for a meeting on Jan 13 and returned to Xi'an on Jan 16. On Jan 29, he came to Tangdu Hospital because of a sore throat, cough and shortness of breath. The Health Commission of Shaanxi Province confirmed he was infected with the virus.
After active and effective treatment, the patient's respiratory symptoms improved significantly and his temperature returned to normal.
On Jan 31 and Feb 1, the novel coronary pathogenic nucleic acid tests were found to be negative and there was no obvious abnormality in the lung CT re-examination, officials said.
Evaluated by experts from the province, it was determined he be released without isolation.
