March 22: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On March 21, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 46 new cases of confirmed infections, 45 new cases of suspected infections, and 6 deaths (5 in Hubei province). 504 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,110 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 118.
As of 24:00 on March 21, the National Health Commission had received 81,054 reports of confirmed cases and 3,261 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 72,244 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 5,549 confirmed cases (including 1,845 in serious condition) and 118 suspected cases. So far, 687,680 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 10,071 are now under medical observation.
On March 21, Hubei reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and 5 deaths (4 in Wuhan). 490 patients were released from hospital after being cured, including 463 in Wuhan.
As of 24:00 on March 21, Hubei had reported 67,800 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,005 in Wuhan) and 3,144 deaths (including 2,508 in Wuhan). In all, 59,432 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 42,354 in Wuhan. There still remained 5,224 confirmed cases (including 5,143 in Wuhan), with 1,812 in serious condition (including 1,794 in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.
On March 21, the Chinese mainland reported 45 new imported confirmed cases from overseas (14 in Shanghai municipality, 13 in Beijing municipality, 7 in Guangdong province, 4 in Fujian province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Shandong province, and 1 in Sichuan province). As of 24:00 on March 21, the Chinese mainland had reported 314 imported confirmed cases from overseas.
As of 24:00 on March 21, 444 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 273 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 100 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 18 in Macao (10 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 153 in Taiwan (2 had been dead and 28 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
