On March 20, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 41 new cases of confirmed infections, 36 new cases of suspected infections, and 7 deaths (all in Hubei province). 590 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,191 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 173.
As of 24:00 on March 20, the National Health Commission had received 81,008 reports of confirmed cases and 3,255 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 71,740 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 6,013 confirmed cases (including 1,963 in serious condition) and 106 suspected cases. So far, 685,866 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 9,371 are now under medical observation.
On March 20, Hubei reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and 7 deaths (6 in Wuhan). 561 patients were released from hospital after being cured, including 502 in Wuhan.
As of 24:00 on March 20, Hubei had reported 67,800 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,005 in Wuhan) and 3,139 deaths (including 2,504 in Wuhan). In all, 58,942 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 41,891 in Wuhan. There still remained 5,719 confirmed cases (including 5,610 in Wuhan), with 1,927 in serious condition (including 1,901 in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.
On March 20, the Chinese mainland reported 41 new imported confirmed cases from overseas (14 in Beijing municipality, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Guangdong province, 4 in Fujian province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Shaanxi province, and 1 in Sichuan province). As of 24:00 on March 20, the Chinese mainland had reported 269 imported confirmed cases from overseas.
As of 24:00 on March 20, 408 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 256 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 98 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 17 in Macao (10 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 135 in Taiwan (2 had been dead and 28 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
