March 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On March 19, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 39 new cases of confirmed infections, 31 new cases of suspected infections, and 3 deaths (2 in Hubei province and 1 in Liaoning province). 730 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,197 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 178.
As of 24:00 on March 19, the National Health Commission had received 80,967 reports of confirmed cases and 3,248 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 71,150 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 6,569 confirmed cases (including 2,136 in serious condition) and 104 suspected cases. So far, 684,331 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,989 are now under medical observation.
On March 19, Hubei reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and 2 deaths (both in Wuhan). 703 patients were released from hospital after being cured, including 624 in Wuhan.
As of 24:00 on March 19, Hubei had reported 67,800 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,005 in Wuhan) and 3,132 deaths (including 2,498 in Wuhan). In all, 58,381 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 41,389 in Wuhan. There still remained 6,287 confirmed cases (including 6,118 in Wuhan), with 2,098 in serious condition (including 2,062 in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.
On March 19, the Chinese mainland reported 39 new imported confirmed cases from overseas (14 in Guangdong province, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 6 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Fujian province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Sichuan province, and 1 in Gansu province). As of 24:00 on March 19, the Chinese mainland had reported 228 imported confirmed cases from overseas.
As of 24:00 on March 19, 333 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 208 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 98 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 17 in Macao (10 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 108 in Taiwan (1 had been dead and 26 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
