Statistics show that in 2019, the information and communications industry in Southwest China's Guizhou province experienced healthy and rapid development. The province's growth rate ranks fourth nationally, while the total scale ranks 11th in China.
During the past year, Guizhou had a total telecommunication business volume of 387.49 billion yuan ($55.5 billion), an increase of 76.8 percent, which is 13.9 percentage points higher than the national average
The telecommunications income was 29.82 billion yuan in 2019, a year-on-year increase of 2.7 percent, which ranks fifth in growth rate and 18th in total scale in China.
By December 2019, Guizhou completed 8.33 billion yuan of fixed assets investment in telecommunications. Guizhou's telephone penetration rate reached 128.9 per 100 people, the length of optical cable lines reached 1.11 million kilometers, covering 26.8 million families, while the number of mobile communication base stations exceeded 257,400.
It is estimated that in 2020, Guizhou's total telecommunications business volume will increase by 35 percent, while the business income will increase by 0.4 percent. The number of telephone users will reach 47.11 million, including 44.84 million mobile phone users.
In addition, the number of internet users will reach 46.76 million, the total length of optical cable lines will exceed 1.2 million, and the number of mobile communication base stations will be 280,000.
