Hechi in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region invested 12 billion yuan ($1.73 billion) in the relocation of impoverished people and the resettlement of residents from the reservoir areas in 2019, generating remarkable results.
The city had planned to implement 576 reservoir resettlement infrastructure projects in 2019, with a total investment of 488.94 million yuan. By the end of December 2019, 575 projects had started their construction and completed investment of 439.01 million yuan, 89.79 percent of the total planned investment.
The city provided 84.93 million yuan in support funds in 2019 for the late resettlement of residents from large and medium-sized reservoir areas.
A total of 81.82 million yuan in ration subsidies were also provided for the migration of the Yantan Reservoir area, as well as 28.52 million yuan in long-term compensation funds for the resettlement of the Longtan Reservoir area.
Nandan county finished the resettlement of the 51 households of 206 people, including 44 registered impoverished families, in the Tianshengqiao Reservoir area. In addition, all the reservoir resettlement projects in Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county had been completed.

In addition, the city finished the investment of more than 11.5 billion yuan in projects related to the relocation of impoverished people in 2019.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20), Hechi planned to relocate a total of 182,200 people, including 176,209 impoverished ones. By the end of 2019, all the people had been relocated.
The city also scheduled to establish 121 centralized relocation sites and 41,000 apartments during the five years, with a total investment of 11.59 billion yuan. By the end of 2019, construction of all the apartments had been finished, and 99.9 percent of the planned investment had been completed.
From 2016 to 2019, construction of the basic supporting facilities, such as water supply and drainage, roads, electricity, as well as garbage disposal, was basically completed in the city's centralized relocation sites, as well as 194 schools for compulsory education, 118 medical facilities, 71 farmer's markets, 58 places for cultural activities, and 47 police rooms.
All the 11 districts and counties in Hechi had finished the supportive plans for the follow-up industrial development and employment training for people who had been relocated by the end of 2019.
The city had trained a total of 15,174 relocated workers and invested 1.4 billion yuan in follow-up supportive funds. By 2019, more than 110,000 impoverished had been lifted out poverty through relocation.
