As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic eases, several scenic spots in Southwest China's Guizhou province have started to receive tourists. Various technologies have been adopted to provide convenience and to safeguard tourists from the virus during their visit.

All visitors are required to book tickets with their real names via official WeChat accounts or online travel agencies at least one day before the visit. The booking system allows scenic spots to control the tourist volume during rush hours.

The Anshun bureau of culture and tourism has innovated in its online promotion by using live streams to introduce featured scenic spots like Huangguoshu National Park, Loong Palace, Getu River, and Guanling Fossil Group National Geologic Park.

Due to the epidemic, "air tourism" has been welcomed by travelers who are not able to visit the scenic spots by themselves. Ctrip, a large online travel agency, launched about 7,000 audio guides covering 3,000 scenic spots in China, and saw a 600 percent increase in users after just one week.

Elong, another large scale online travel agency, launched online activities and live streams using videos, virtual reality technologies, and internet celebrities to introduce famous scenic spots like Guizhou's Huangguoshu Waterfall, Xiaoqikong scenic spot, and Sidonggou scenic spot.

In the future, Guizhou will further utilize smart tourism to promote tourism resources and to entice more tourists to travel to Guizhou.
