Shinan restaurant offers free lunch to volunteers, sanitation workers

Free lunch is being provided by Zhuiri Seafood Restaurant in Shinan district, Qingdao to volunteers and sanitation workers serving in local communities.

The lunch consists of rice, soup and three other dishes. Three cooks usually start preparations at around 8 am and pack the food into lunch boxes at 11 am. From 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, local volunteers and sanitation workers are invited to take one box each.

"Volunteers and sanitation workers are on the frontlines of the battle against the coronavirus," said Zhao Hongjun, manager of the restaurant, "So I decided to provide them with free lunch. It’s the least I can do."

Zhuiri Seafood Restaurant has been operating for 20 years and has always stressed the importance of being socially responsible. According to Zhao, the virus outbreak has had a huge impact on the catering industry, but he still wants to do what he can to help with epidemic control.

Yang Lisen, a senior cook at the restaurant, said that he came to work after he received a message from the manager. He said it feels good offer some help amid the epidemic control, even if just a little.
