March 8: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On March 7, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 44 new cases of confirmed infections, 84 new cases of suspected infections, and 27 deaths (all in Hubei province). 1,661 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 4,021 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 225.
As of 24:00 on March 7, the National Health Commission had received 80,695 reports of confirmed cases and 3,097 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 57,065 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 20,533 confirmed cases (including 5,264 in serious condition) and 458 suspected cases. So far, 674,038 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 23,074 are now under medical observation.
On March 7, Hubei reported 41 new cases of confirmed infections (all in Wuhan), 42 new cases of suspected infections (all in Wuhan), and 27 deaths (including 21 in Wuhan). 1,543 patients were released from hospital after being cured, including 1,259 in Wuhan.
As of 24:00 on March 7, Hubei had reported 67,707 cases of confirmed infections (including 49,912 in Wuhan) and 2,986 deaths (including 2,370 in Wuhan). In all, 45,011 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 29,770 in Wuhan. There still remained 19,710 confirmed cases (including 17,772 in Wuhan), with 5,140 in serious condition (including 4,850 in Wuhan), and 295 suspected cases (including 258 in Wuhan).
On March 7, the Chinese mainland reported 3 new imported confirmed cases from overseas (2 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Gansu province). As of 24:00 on March 7, the Chinese mainland had reported 63 imported confirmed cases from overseas.
As of 24:00 on March 7, 164 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 109 in Hong Kong (2 had been dead and 55 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 10 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 45 in Taiwan (1 had been dead and 13 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
