The government of Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province, signed a cooperation agreement with online travel agency Ctrip on March 3, to promote Shenyang's tourism sector growth, according to local officials.
Jiang Youwei, mayor of Shenyang city, attended the signing ceremony.
As a leading international and domestic travel service company, Ctrip provides more than 300 million members with comprehensive travel services -- including hotel reservations, air ticket reservations, vacation planning, business travel management and travel information.
Shenyang, as a famous historical and cultural city and a top tourist city in China, has a rich history and diverse customs.
In recent years, the tourism industry in Shenyang has maintained rapid growth, especially tourism themed on the culture of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), civilization during the Republic of China (1912-1949), anti-war history and industrial culture, officials said.
Under the agreement, the two will cooperate to accelerate tourism sector growth in Shenyang, with the focus on smart tourism, the development of characteristic tourism products and upgrading services.
Officials said the partnership aims to accelerate Shenyang's integration into national and international tourism markets, promote Shenyang's opening-up -- and build it into an ideal tourism destination in Northeast Asia.
