Beijing has stepped up efforts in its health campaign, with some 300,000 workers dispatched and more than 150,000 sanitation infrastructures cleaned, local authorities said Thursday.
The city has completed the clearance and transportation of more than 50,000 tonnes of domestic garbage and the disinfection of over 60,000 breeding grounds of overwintering mosquitoes since the COVID-19 outbreak, said Gao Xiaojun with the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, at a press conference.
The government called on the public to take an active part in the prevention and control of the epidemic and the improvement of environmental hygiene, including cleaning work in public venues and routine disinfection of public transportation, according to Gao.
Beijing's health campaign has covered close to 7,000 districts and villages since it was launched in mid-January.
