The 2020 6th Summer Summit of World Congress of Chinese Medicine, hosted by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies -- or the WFCMS -- is scheduled to be held in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province on June 12-14.
Officials said that the summit is a global academic event for the Chinese medicine sector.
So far it has been held in Jiangsu, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangxi and Shaanxi provinces in China -- with the participation of experts from around the world and the support of international organizations, research institutions and medical institutions.
Due to the current novel coronavirus epidemic, preparations for the summit cannot be carried out according to original plans, officials said.
They said that the Jilin committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade is currently keeping close touch with the WFCMS to ensure comprehensive preparations.
Organizers said that due to the effective use of Chinese medicine in epidemic prevention and control, a thematic forum on the prevention and control of novel coronavirus pneumonia will be held.
Located in Northeast China, Jilin province boasts rich Chinese medicine resources and has been promoting the integration of Chinese medicine with healthcare, research, education, cultural tourism and more.
During the summit, academic exchanges, meetings, forums, promotional activities and trade events on Jilin’s Chinese medicine and healthcare industries will be organized, with participation of Chinese medicine experts and scholars from all over the country.
A Jilin-Hong Kong-Macao Chinese medicine industry development forum will be held during the event.
Officials said that the summer summit will help accelerate Jilin's internationalization in the Chinese medicine and healthcare industry -- enabling it to play a more positive role in the Belt and Road Initiative.
