Residents of Dongsheng district in Ordos, a city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, are getting a lift in the face of the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak from an invaluable food delivery platform, according to local officials.
They said, since Feb 4, locals have been able to buy daily necessities, fruits and vegetables from many supermarkets in the district through the on-demand food delivery platform Ele.me.
It has helped solve the problems of residents in the difficult prevention and control period during the outbreak.
According to the person in charge of the platform's Ordos branch, residents can buy all kinds of daily necessities through Ele.me platform.
Delivery staff then offer contactless delivery, thus reducing the risk of virus infection that residents may have when they go out shopping.
At present, the platform has reached cooperation deals with more than 40 supermarkets in Dongsheng district.
Officials said the prices of daily necessities, fruits and vegetables purchased by the public through the platform in these supermarkets are under the supervision of the market supervision administration and the price bureau and there will be no price increase.
During the epidemic, the delivery fee is only five yuan ($0.72).
According to a spokesman for the platform, they will continue to cooperate with local e-commerce to ensure the supply of all kinds of commodities.
He added that at the same time, the platform will resolutely and effectively avoid the source of infection, cutting off risks as much as possible, to facilitate the public's shopping and better protect residents' safety and health.
