The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Feb 6 reported on its current situation with the local novel coronavirus outbreak and epidemic prevention and control work, according to local media reports.
Officials said that as of that day Ordos had 11 confirmed cases, one suspected case, two cured and discharged cases and 270 close contacts of the patients had been traced.
In terms of medical treatment, Ordos has gathered 549 professional medical staff to participate in medical isolation and treatment and set up four special groups to guide the city's epidemic prevention and control work.
At present, the remaining nine confirmed patients are being treated in the Second People's Hospital of Ordos and all of them have stable vital signs, while one suspected patient is being treated in the People's Hospital of Dalad Banner.
Reviewing the local epidemic prevention and control and the related medical security situation, officials said Ordos had carried out a comprehensive epidemiological investigation.
They said that at present, isolation and observation measures had been implemented for 270 close contacts of confirmed patients.
All public hospitals above the second level in the city are required to carry out more strict pre-examination and triage measures, set up fever clinics and establish isolation wards.
At present, the number of patients who have undergone pre-examinations and triage has totaled 190,000. Of these, 2,757 fever patients were screened, and 54 patients are currently staying in the hospital for observation.
Ordos has further standardized its disinfection, isolation procedures and protective measures in the hospital to ensure the safety of medical staff.
At the same time, it has carried out psychological intervention and set up an expert group to provide psychological assistance for front-line medical staff and the general public during the epidemic prevention and control period.
The local government also mobilized more than 34,000 people, including officials at all levels, community workers and volunteers, to participate in urban and rural environmental sanitation renovation activity -- and carried out more than 58,000 instances of disinfection work in public places.
In addition, Ordos has strengthened publicity for epidemic prevention and control, updated the latest real time information on the epidemic and has publicized the effectiveness of epidemic prevention and control measures.
Officials added that it has popularized scientific coronavirus prevention and control knowledge, distributed and produced 1.1 million copies of various epidemic prevention and control knowledge manuals and leaflets and opened a 24-hour hotline for consultation.
