Five more coal mines resumed production in Ordos city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Feb 11, according to local officials.

To date, the number of coal mines that have resumed production in the city has increased to 69, with a total annual production capacity of 360 million tons.

According to local media reports, on February 11 the city's coal inventory reached 4.45 million tons and 1.17 million tons of coal were sold that day -- of which 720,000 tons were sold to buyers outside the autonomous region.

Officials said that Ordos, an important base for power transmission from the West to the East of China, is now seeing the generating units of 50 thermal power companies in the city operating at normal levels.

As of February 11, the accumulated power supply had reached 5.72 billion kwh, ensuring the stable use of energy in the downstream area.

Ordos has an annual production capacity of more than 600 million tons of raw coal. It is a national energy base and the city's coal, coal chemicals and power industries are leaders in the country.

In recent days, Ordos has overcome difficulties effecting transport and personnel.

It actively assisted coal mines, chemical and other qualified industrial and mining enterprises to resume production.

Officials said the city also helped enterprises to solve transportation problems and worked hard to ensure the market supply of coal, electricity, chemicals and other relevant products -- while also doing well in novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic prevention and control.
