March 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On March 1, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 202 new cases of confirmed infections, 141 new cases of suspected infections, and 42 deaths (all in Hubei province). 2,837 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 8,154 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 255.
As of 24:00 on March 1, the National Health Commission had received 80,026 reports of confirmed cases and 2,912 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 44,462 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 32,652 confirmed cases (including 7,110 in serious condition) and 715 suspected cases. So far, 663,240 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 46,219 are now under medical observation.
On March 1, Hubei reported 196 new cases of confirmed infections (including 193 in Wuhan), 80 new cases of suspected infections (including 70 in Wuhan), and 42 deaths (including 32 in Wuhan). 2,570 patients were released from hospital after being cured, including 1,958 in Wuhan.
As of 24:00 on March 1, Hubei had reported 67,103 cases of confirmed infections (including 49,315 in Wuhan) and 2,803 deaths (including 2,227 in Wuhan). In all, 33,757 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 21,185 in Wuhan. There still remained 30,543 confirmed cases (including 25,903 in Wuhan), with 6,872 in serious condition (including 6,225 in Wuhan), and 527 suspected cases (including 340 in Wuhan).
As of 24:00 on March 1, 148 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 98 in Hong Kong (2 had been dead and 36 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 10 in Macao (8 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 40 in Taiwan (1 had been dead and 12 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
