Feb 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 24, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 508 new cases of confirmed infections, 530 new cases of suspected infections, and 71 deaths (68 in Hubei province, 2 in Shandong province, and 1 in Guangdong province). 2,589 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 15,758 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 789.
As of 24:00 on Feb 24, the National Health Commission had received 77,658 reports of confirmed cases and 2,663 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 27,323 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 47,672 confirmed cases (including 9,126 in serious condition) and 2,824 suspected cases. So far, 641,742 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 87,902 are now under medical observation.
On Feb 24, Hubei reported 499 new cases of confirmed infections (including 464 in Wuhan), 373 new cases of suspected infections (including 282 in Wuhan), and 68 deaths (including 56 in Wuhan). 2,116 patients were released from hospital after being cured, including 1,391 in Wuhan.
As of 24:00 on Feb 24, Hubei had reported 64,786 cases of confirmed infections (including 47,071 in Wuhan) and 2,563 deaths (including 2,043 in Wuhan). In all, 18,854 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 10,337 in Wuhan. There still remained 43,369 confirmed cases (including 34,691 in Wuhan), with 8,675 in serious condition (including 7,647 in Wuhan), and 2,292 suspected cases (including 1,529 in Wuhan).
As of 24:00 on Feb 24, 121 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 81 in Hong Kong (2 had been dead and 19 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 10 in Macao (6 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 30 in Taiwan (1 had been dead and 5 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
