鲁迅故里(Luxunguli)
Lu Xun Native Place Scenic Area is located in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province. It was the place where the writer Lu Xun spent his childhood, and thus preserves many of his belongings and life stories for later generations to admire. The area is now a well-known cultural relic scenic area under national protection.
Known as the writer who held the most important position in East Asia during the 20th century, and praised as the national spirit of modern China, Lu Xun was an accomplished litterateur and a great thinker. He possessed expertise in many fields, including writing, translation, the fine arts, and the study of ancient books.
It was in his former residence that Lu Xun came into the world in September 1881. He spent his childhood and teenage years here, which left him with many precious memories. His life there became an important source for his writing.
Here, visitors can learn about his early life and trace the scenes he wrote about by visiting his ancestral house, former residence, pleasure ground in Baicao Garden, and his school, Sanwei Study Room.
The most renowned spot is Baicao Garden behind the residence. Though a vegetable field, it was a childhood heaven where the young Lu Xun could to play games. The young writer could always find something interesting to do there, whether it was catching crickets in the grass, picking fruit or trapping birds in the snow. His memories of this period were so vivid that he often recalled them in his works.
The Sanwei Study Room in Lu Xun Native Place is an old-style private school in which Lu Xun spent five years acquiring knowledge and receiving moral education. Visitors can see the famous desk on which he carved a Chinese character “早” to remind himself not to be late again for class.
To get a comprehensive understanding of Lu Xun, people can come to the memorial hall, where plenty of pictures, original manuscripts and the story of his life, works and thoughts are presented.

The Lu Xun Native Scenic Area offers free entry. However, visitors need to bring along their ID cards or passports to get free tickets. One ID card can carry two underage children.
