一代宗师
IMDb rating: 6.6/10
The Grandmaster is an epic action feature inspired by the life and times of the legendary kung fu master, Ip Man. The film was directed and written by Wong Kar-wai and stars Tony Leung as Ip Man.
The story spans the tumultuous Republican era that followed the fall of China's last dynasty, a time of chaos, division and war that was also the golden age of Chinese martial arts.
Filmed in a range of stunning locations that include the snow-swept landscapes of Northeast China and the subtropical South, the film features virtuoso performances by some of the greatest stars of contemporary Asian cinema, including Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi.
The Grandmaster chronicles Ip Man's last days in his hometown of Foshan in the 1930s, a town which is now a part of Guangzhou, before he moved to Hong Kong.
Guangzhou enjoys a typical subtropical monsoon climate with moderate year-round temperatures. So, if you’re planning on a winter tour to the city, the good news is that when northern China is frozen, Guangzhou is still a sea of colorful flowers.
Besides, Chinese New Year falls in February, when there will be a number of celebration activities, so tourists can gain good information about Chinese festival culture.
