In order to enrich citizens’ lives at home during the epidemic prevention and control period, Beijing Zoo, the Summer Palace and other municipal parks in Beijing as well as the Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture have launched online garden tour services.
These parks have introduced the "cloud tour" mode, so that people can listen to audio guides and enjoy exhibitions online without leaving home.
Beijing Zoo and the Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture have been closed since January 24, while other municipal parks have cancelled all Spring Festival activities as well as indoor exhibitions and snow and ice activities, so as to prevent large gatherings of people.
Beijing Zoo has launched an "online zoo" section on its official WeChat public account, which shows the daily lives of animals in a short video with pictures and words, showing their disinfection procedures, training, feeding and observation, and introducing popular science knowledge related to animals.
Since the Zoo was closed, animal training and other types of work continue, according to personnel from the publicity department of Beijing Zoo.
"Our colleagues realized that using online tours, the living conditions of animals can be popularized online, and we can also show the breeder working behind the scenes, allowing citizens interested in animals to wander around the zoo from home,” said the personnel.
In addition, the Summer Palace has also recently launched the "online Summer Palace" section, which includes functions such as enjoying the scenery, listening to explanations, watching videos, collecting fortune cards, and taking pictures.
Visitors can enter the WeChat public account of the Summer Palace, select "take you on a tour", click the map guide, select the area and attractions on the map, and listen to an audio guide.
The Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture has launched the "online class of gardens", which offers over 30 outstanding exhibitions from past years, and guides viewers in reliving a wonderful experience of the world of cultural relics in the form of VR virtual exhibitions and popular science videos.
