Zhejiang University donates 1m yuan to support Hechi's virus fight

Zhejiang University, along with its alumni enterprise Shanghai Xunmeng Info Tech Co Ltd, the parent company of Pinduoduo, donated 1 million yuan ($142,991) on Feb 6 to help Hechi in its fight against the novel coronavirus.

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45), Zhejiang University moved to Yizhou for one year and four months. During that time, it created its school song and motto there.

"Yizhou is one of the places where Zhejiang University moved to the West and is a second hometown of the school," said Sha Yanshuang, deputy director of the Yizhou district government office. "This donation is a timely contribution to the prevention and control of the epidemic in Yizhou, and also shows the deep affection of Zhejiang University to the people of Yizhou."

The donation will be mainly used to purchase drugs, equipment, and materials for conoravirus prevention and control, to construct and transform inpatient wards, as well as to provide supports for front-line medical workers.
