Feb 8: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 7, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 3,399 new cases of confirmed infections (including 2,841 in Hubei province), 4,214 new cases of suspected infections (including 2,073 in Hubei province), 1,280 new serious cases (including 1,193 in Hubei province), and 86 deaths (81 in Hubei province, 2 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Beijing, 1 in Henan province, and 1 in Gansu province). 510 patients were released from hospitals after being cured, including 298 in Hubei province. 26,702 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation.

As of 24:00 on Feb 7, the National Health Commission had received 34,546 reports of confirmed cases (reduced by 14 by Heilongjiang province after verification) and 722 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 2,050 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 31,774 confirmed cases (including 6,101 in serious condition) and 27,657 suspected cases. So far, 345,498 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 189,660 are now under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on Feb 7, 52 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 26 in Hong Kong (1 death), 10 in Macao (1 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16 in Taiwan (1 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
